Do we rent out our restaurant space for your events?

More Eatery would love for you to host your event in our restaurant space! You can select your food choices from any of our catering packages, or from our restaurant menu. Any size group is welcome, but if you are ordering from our catering menus, the minimum group sizes remain as stated for each style of service. We will close the restaurant at 5pm on the event night, and your group can start arriving at 6pm. Last call is at 11pm, but your crew will need to head out by 12am. The minimum rental fee for Monday to Thursday evening is $1500, and the minimum fee for Friday to Saturday evening is $2300. If the total cost of your food and drink orders meets the minimum fee requirement, the fee is waived, but if the event total is below the requirement, the difference will be reflected on the final invoice. As with any of our catering, we will take a credit card on file during the planning process.

What is the minimum number of guests permitted for catering from the buffet menu?

While More Eatery provides different minimums for some other services provided, the buffet menu is more extensive and most widely used for larger events, so your group size must be at least 30 people for this catering service.

What is buffet style, family style, or plated?

At a buffet, guests get up to serve themselves from dishes set out on a main table. This is the most efficient way to feed your guests, and they often enjoy getting up for a quick social around the buffet tables!

During family-style service, bowls and platters of food are brought to the table to be passed around. It is served best at one long table, so that more food can be passed down to where it’s required. Family style is for the host that is looking for the full “dining experience,” and should expect the meal to last up to 2.5 hours. This style of service can be done for up to 120 people and may be subject to additional plate-rental fees. It should also be noted that while it is nice to have platters right on the table, it does give the table settings a different feel. If you have a beautifully set and decorated table, this service may clutter your design vision.

Plated meals are exactly that! Servers deliver a meal on a plate to each individual guest, and the maximum guest count for this service is 120.

What does More Eatery provide/include when catering?

We arrive at a catering event with the items we need to hold and serve our food. We do not provide plates, glasses, utensils, or linens. We also do not provide the tables and linens needed for the buffet service (two or three 8-foot tables and linens for them). While placing your rental order, we recommend ordering 15% more than your guest count for all dishware. There are always extras needed! More Eatery can add the water service, coffee & tea, pop & juice, bar, or champagne service to your catering by request. We would provide all of the glassware and supplies required for these services, and we would only need you to provide us with a space to work in!

How does More Eatery handle dietary restrictions?

We can provide food for people that are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, or have a nut allergy. Restrictions outside of those guidelines will be the responsibility of the affected guest. If the amount of people needing special meals exceeds 15% of the total guest list, the menu will need to be adjusted to allow or to add another “main” dish to cover the restrictions.

What time will More Eatery arrive at your event and how long will we be there?

We usually don’t need to arrive 4 hours early, but we need to know we’ll have access at that point if necessary. Having a key or a code before we arrive is incredibly helpful, so we can get in and get started even if you aren’t there yet. Depending on the event, our crew may not even arrive until an hour before, so don’t panic if we aren’t there yet! We will arrive, set up, and be good to go by your start time. We will need up to 2 hours after the event to clean up. So, including the event itself, we require the venue to be available to us for 8 hours.

More Eatery will be available to serve your appies for a maximum of 2 hours, a buffet dinner for 1.5 hours, a family-style dinner for 2.5 hours, and dessert for half an hour. This means that depending which style of dinner you choose, More Eatery will be available for 4 or 5 hours after the start of the first service.

Every event is different, and we allot a fair amount of time for our staff to be on site. If you request a longer service or an extension of what we are offering while on location, there may be addition time-related costs added to the final invoice.

What kitchen amenities are required on site?

For More Eatery to execute a successful catering service at your selected venue, it needs to have a full-size oven, hand sink, dishwasher, stove top (or a full-size grill WITH propane), and ample counter space. All these items need to be clean and fully functioning. If your venue is a personal residence, photos may be requested prior to commitment to ensure it’s a space we can work in. Please note, menu selections may not be approved if we deem the venue unsuitable for certain preparation and cooking.

Even if we are doing a smaller catering event, we do need access to your kitchen to use the sink and possibly finalize and assemble your food.

What if there are leftovers at the event?

Because we provide more than enough food for your guest count, there aren’t usually many leftovers. Guests just keep going back for more! If there is food left on the service tables, we can pack it in sealable containers you have provided, and label it with dates. We can only provide this service if there is a fridge or iced cooler available to hold leftovers right away.

What do you charge for kids to eat?

If the kids at your event are eating off the menu selected: 4 and under can eat for free, 5-11 are charged half the price of the menu cost, and those 12 and up are considered adults. We also offer a kids’ menu, which applies to kids 11 and under. While the kids 4 and under can still eat for free off this menu, the minimum order for this service is 10 guests.

What are your travel costs?

If your venue is outside of Campbell River, the cost for our travelling is $85 per hour, and 61 cents per kilometre. If there is a kitchen fee charged to us at your chosen venue, it will be reflected on your final invoice.

How does More Eatery process payments?

More Eatery will need to have a credit card on file prior to catering. You are welcome to use this card for payment, but we also accept cheques, and e-transfers to moreeatery@gmail.com. For catering events that exceed $2000, customers are required to pay a $500 deposit to secure their requested date. This deposit is refundable up until 2 months before the event, as we would still have the opportunity to book another event to replace your reserved spot. If your catering total exceeds $4000: 2 weeks prior to the event, we require a deposit that totals 50% of the catering (which includes the $500 deposit). The remaining balance is due on the first business day following the event. Your card on file may be charged if we don’t hear from you within a couple business days.
